Which route fits your question?
Not every request needs a new plugin. We go through these four routes with you, from lightest to heaviest.
Use what Moodle already has
Often Moodle can already do it, with settings, roles, a standard activity or an existing plugin. If so, that's our advice and nothing needs to be built.
Adapt an existing plugin
If a plugin almost does what you need, we check whether adapting it makes sense: is it still maintained, may the code be changed, and will your change carry over to the next version?
Build an integration
If it's mainly about data moving between Moodle and another system, it's an integration rather than a standalone feature. That work is described on our integrations page.
Develop a new plugin
If the functionality doesn't exist anywhere yet, we build a new plugin to Moodle coding standards, tested on an acceptance environment and with a plan for future Moodle versions.

Is there source code, what state is it in, and how much of it can stay?
Rights
Who owns the code and may it be changed? And which Moodle roles and capabilities does the plugin need?
Data flows
What data does the plugin read, store or send, and does that include personal data?

How many scenarios need testing, and are there automated tests to build on?
Version support
Which Moodle versions does the plugin need to support, now and after your next upgrade?

Who keeps the plugin up to date with new Moodle versions and security releases after delivery?

KNVB Dugout
Since the pilot phase in 2019 we have been part of Dugout, the KNVB's learning system. We build and maintain its custom extensions: more than 35 so far.
KNLTB Academy
